IE Problems

In Firefox, the page is EXACTLY how I want it, but on IE (6.0) it messes up a bit.

1. My updates bar doesn't work.
2. My .PNGs don't have any transparency

That's all I see right now. How can I fix these? Are they worth the bother?

Also, do you have any other suggestions? I want to change the link color, but what shows up well on white and blue and goes with the color scheme? I don't just want black.

I'm thinking about making my index page a note that says
"Best Viewed in Mozilla Firefox
Get it here

ENTER"

Is this type of thing generally frowned upon?

.png won't render correctly in IE. This is a well known issue, use .gif. IE doesn't handle the hover effect like FF unless it's in an anchor tag. Another well knwon issue. Do not use a "best viewed" line. Make something that will work in "most browsers.
