Kelly Chen started out as a guest for Jackie Cheung's TV music show and it was from then on that Kelly Chen knew what she wanted to do with her life. Obviously bitten by the show, Kelly Chan set off to pursue a career in the showbiz. Things were not as pretty as they seem. Kelly Chen had a short lived career and many bad reviews when she started out. It was not until her break in the movie "Whatever Will Be, Will Be" and a few more promising performances that reviews started to look her way but still Kelly Chan found that acting was not a walk in the park for her.
Kelly Chen turned to singing and released an album 1995. Kelly Chan appeared in MTV Asia many times but it was not until she appeared in a movie opposite Aaron Kwok that her career took a major turn. Kelly Chen shot up to fame in an instant and simultaneously gained instant popularity with her first single "Everything Pretty Because Of You". The song hit the Hong Kong charts and Kelly Chen finally became a star. She was belting out hits after hits with chart toppers like "Memorial Day", "You're The One", "Da De Dum", "Remember", "Wind Flower Snow", "3 Minutes", "Serious", "Star Dreams Love Passion", "One Life One Love", "True Feelings" and much more.
With fame, fortune soon followed. Kelly Chen was the top choice for commercials and at one time was also dubbed the 'Queen Of Commercials' with contracts signed with big names like Epson, De Beers, Sifone, Chase Manhattan and Shiseido just to name a few.
Kelly Chen 's efforts were acknowledged in 1996 when reputable Chinese radio stations in Singapore and Canada named her the Best New Comer From Hong Kong. In the year 2000, Kelly Chan also won Best Female Singer and Most Popular Female Singer awards in Hong Kong. A category where she was nominated together with Sammi Cheng in both titles.

Kelly Chen (陳慧琳 (born Vivian Chen Wai Man 陳慧汶 on September 13, 1972) is a Hong Kong based singer and actress. She is also credited as Kelly Chan, Wai-Lam Chan, Huilin Chen and Wai Lun Chen. Kelly Chen went to primary school in Hong Kong, and high school called Kobe Canadian Academy in Japan. She graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City, specializing in Graphic Design. Most famous in Hong Kong and the rest of China, she is also quite popular in Taiwan, Japan, and in North America. Besides Cantonese she is also quite fluent in Japanese, English, and Mandarin.
